Laurine Field ‘Our Garden’ will run until the 22nd May 2017
Our Garden by Laurine Field
The exhibition Our Garden by Laurine Field features paintings of the beautiful Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens. This botanical environment is represented as an intense sensory and aesthetic experience which exudes prolific life through exotic plant forms. Exquisitely detailed images of orchids, bromeliads, cacti and succulents abound in the exhibition. Acute observation of nature’s life-force, colours and textures form a meditation on the beauty of gardens.
The magnificent sanctuary of Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens is evidence of people connecting with nature in a harmonious way. It is a highly cultivated symbol of people’s relationship with the land and is an important source of individual and communal identity; a place to which people have deep ties. Our Garden is a stunning reflection of that connection to a garden.
Laurine has been painting for twenty years; has a Masters of Creative Arts and works part-time as a Visual Art teacher. Our Garden is Laurine’s fifth solo exhibition.
